It filters impurities from the water, enhances the water with a range of beneficial minerals and electrolytes, and raises the PH level to access a number of claimed health benefits. In the box, you receive the bottle itself, three removable filters (one is preinstalled), and a well written user guide. The build quality is first rate, as you would expect for the £55.99 pre discount price tag, and this product really does have something of a premium feel to it. The 215 x 73 mm 500ml water bottle itself is made from transparent Tritan, a BPA free type of plastic, and has a distinctly premium feel to it. Inside the bottle is the preinstalled replaceable filter and exhaust tube for any gases removed during the filtration process - this is not a straw so do not attempt to drink through it! On top is the water outlet with flip back cap and above it the combined drinking cup and lid, also made from transparent tritan. On the side is a fabric carry handle. The filters contain three layers. The first infuses the water with natural minerals and electrolytes and in so doing increases the PH level of the water to as much as PH9.5, depending on the base level of your water.. The second adds hydrogen and other antioxidants and trace elements. The final one an an activated carbon layer which reduces chlorine, sediments, heavy metals and other impurities. Each filter cartridge will process up to 200L of water or 3 months of use, whichever comes first. What is Alkaline water? The water PH scale goes from 0 to 14, where anything below 7 is acidic, 7 is neutral, and over 7 is alkaline. Normal drinking water has a pH ranging from 6.5 to 8.5. The antioxidant properties of alkaline water typically last for about 18-24 hours. What are the benefits of Alkaline water? The main claimed benefits are: Provides essential minerals and antioxidants Improves digestion and metabolism Enhances immune system function Alleviates skin conditions Boosts hydration and reduces fatigue I have to say that in the few days I have been using it I have not seen any major benefits, but it does take time and results can vary from person to person. My review is centred on the quality of the product - which seems first rate to me - and the ability to elevate the PH level of water in the bottle, which works well. If you need a quick and easy way to access Alkaline Water on the go, then this would be a pretty decent buy.
