Now this was actually an amazing season. Number 1 is easily the 2nd best show of the year, and the top 11 was a solid 8.5+, and the good shows go down to 20th. And only two shows were under a 5, and one of those is a short that's clearly only meant to be watched by people who played the game (which defeats the purpose of having an anime but whatever). When I last did this video in 2017, I had been watching anime for 5.5 years and had 38 10s (+Gunsmith Cats which was not a decimal in that video). In the 6.5 years since I've only had 11. I wonder if my standards changed or if anime just isn't as good as it was in the peak years of 2014 and 2015. Also in that time I've become a World Trigger fanboy and really don't care about anything else any more. Oh and also Merry Christmas! Seriously though, how does one resist the urge to watch terrible gacha shorts? It's funny how you can tell how recently I watched everything by how obscure the artist pick is (except Testament, I had to redo that one for copyright). I was originally going to do a Bottom 100, but then I remembered some random shorts that I had forgotten about, plus the summer season had a lot of crap that made it (along with Arknights from this season), but I already had some clip done for some things near the bottom so it felt like a waste not to include them, so I ended up including all of my 3/10 lower anime. 2's start from 62nd, 1's from 21st, and the bottom 8 don't even deserve a 1/10. Another very obvious winner this year. Not a great year for standouts, other than 1st, only number 2 is something I'd consider an alltime stand out, with 3-11 also being really great. Reminder that things I look for in a visual that help it stand out are: Widescreen, callbacks to previous OP/ED of the series, interesting use of credits/integrated credits, integrated lyrics, camera spins, interesting camera angles (think smartphone shots, first person POV), cool color/art schemes, synching really well with the song, the color pink, and cute girls driving. The name at the top is the director of each of the OP/ED in the list with a couple exceptions.
